Motion Sickness Facts and Information

  1. Acupressure may reduce symptoms of sea sickness. Use "Sea Bands" as commercially available.

  2. For motion sickness or sea sickness: While in the water, be careful not to swallow sea water. It makes many people nauseous. Make sure your mouthpiece fits well and that you have your regulator comfortably and securely in your mouth so as to keep water out.

  3. Most cases of dizziness and motion sickness are mild and self-treatable disorders.

  4. Most medications for motion sickness need to be taken at least 30 minutes before exposure to the activity that can cause the problem.

  5. SEA Bands are an excellent drug free alternative to chemical travel sickness medication. The bands cause no side effects and are absolutely safe for children and adults.

  6. If you begin to feel sea sick, or motion sick; Eat frequent small quantities of soda crackers

  7. Motion sickness or seasickness is usually just a minor annoyance and does not signify any serious medical illness, but some travelers are incapacitated by it, and a few even suffer symptoms for a few days after the trip.

  10. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Once you are in the water, drop down below the surface (make sure your buddy knows that this is the plan). The top ten or fifteen feet or so (3 to 4.5 meters), more in rough seas can still have a surge that will have an effect on you. Dropping below that can have a calming effect on your senses (and your stomach).
